Jokowi vs SBY
There
are two popular icons in Indonesia. They are ever been a president in
Indonesia. The first one is Joko Widodo and the second one is Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono. Both are have many different things also have some similarities. Whatever
the differences they had been something new for Indonesia. The differences of them
included about what they look like ? what they hobbies ?, how they work for
Indonesia ? how they influence the society in Indonesia ? how to choose cabinet
? and many things can be addition. These differences are from some source such
as face book email and Google furthermore,
I also put my opinion about comparison between Joko Widodo and Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono. Actually, to make these differences I have to find in some article
about them for avoiding the false fact about them. we may not judge or comment
someone without the real fact because it can be a lying or an untrue story. In
this paragraph I will compare both of them best on my opinion and some article
that will explain about their background,
performance, appearance, authority, and charisma.
Every people in
Indonesia know that Joko Widodo and
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have different background as a president. The first
background is about Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. [1]He
was born in Tremas,
Arjosari, Pacitan, Jawa Timur, Indonesia, On September 19th
1949.He
passed the education about military for instance Angkatan Bersenjata
RI (Akabri) Academy tahun 1973, American Language Course at Lackland, Texas United States of America in 1976,Airbone and Ranger
Course at Fort Benning, United States of America in 1976,Infantry Officer Advanced Course at Fort Benning, United States of
America in 1982-1983, On the job training in 82-nd Airbone Division at Fort Bragg, United
States of America in 1983, Jungle Warfare School at Panama
in 1983, Senjata Antitank Course at Belgia and Jerman
in 1984, Batalyon Command Course in 1985, Staff and Command Angkatan Darat School in 1988-1989, Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Cansas,
USA, Master of Art (M.A.) from Management Webster
University at Missouri, Amerika Serikat, and Doctorate for Economics
of Agriculture and Institut
Pertanian Bogor (IPB)
in 2004. In other words he is an active
and intelligent person. He began to follow politic first time when they
performed as a speaker of ABRI faction before plenary session on Mart 9th
1998 because of that he was promoted to be a cabinet minister of mining and energy.
On Mart 30th 2013 in Bali he was determined to be a chief for
Demokrat. To make it short in 2004-2014 he became a president in Indonesia. in
contrast with Joko Widodo that being a president for this period in Indonesia.[2]He
was born in Surakarta, Jawa Tengah on Juni 21th 1961.
Jokowi is not like SBY that have many history about his education even though
Joko Widodo has academic skills so he was received in Gajah Mada University as
a forestry student. It is a good chance for him to study about structure,
utilization, and technology about wood. The best thing is in 1988 he has a business about wood. The name is CV
Rakabu, it is a name of his daughter. He began to join politic when he met a
guy, his name is Micr Romaknan. They met when Joko Widodo operated his business
and then He decided to ask Jokowi to around Europe because Jokowi is an honest
person moreover he also a hard worker. As long as Joko Widodo in Europe, he
feels inspired with formation of city in Europe so he apply in Indonesia so
that’s why he want to join politic in this country then he could be a governor
in Jakarta finally, he could be a president on Mei 19th 2014 They
are have divergent background, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as a Intelligent person
and Joko Widodo as a hard worker.
I think they both are good man. They have unique
characteristic each other. In my opinion Joko Widodo and
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have several things in common. First, Joko Widodo is a
simple person. It seems when he wears red shirt with box motif sometimes he wears white shirt and black
pants. Furthermore, he has thin body, black skin, and the most interesting
thing is Jokowi easily to smile and
easily to accost people around him. He has java accent. It makes him
become a unique president some people in
Indonesia said that Jokowi cannot speak English because he rarely speak English
in front of public but there is no statement
or fact that will prove it. Inversely, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is an authority
person because he likes wearing toxedo sometimes he wears batik that makes him has
more charismatic then Jokowi in addition, his body is rather fat and he has small
eyes but he still seems handsome. Actually, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is brave and smart person because 2he
graduated from Armed Generation Republik Indonesia
academic in 1973 as a best alumni.
After they
are selected by society in Indonesia they also have different way to solve
problem in Indonesia. for example,3 Joko Widodo prefer to choose
“blusukan” in the other word “ go through place or market in which passage is
difficult. All of people know Joko Widodo loves to visit some market and to see
how condition there. He also have the new program for Indonesia one of them is
Kartu Sehat and BPJS. It is for people that really need medicinal treatment
such as poor person, people who lives in under the bridge etc. recently there
is a controversy about BPJS from MUI (Majelis Ulama Islam ), they said that
BPJS is “haram” in the other words “forbidden” and now BPJS still be a controversy. As you
know that Jokowi is easy to go out there. this habits is when he was a governor
in Jakarta but some of people getting protest to Jokowi because he do not make
their satisfy about what he have done to solve any problem. In contrast with
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or “SBY”. SBY have any others way to solve many
problem in Indonesia he prefer to focus about how to superintend about
corruption, education and health in Indonesia. for instance he made Bantuan Operasional Sekolah program (BOS) on July 2005 this aid for head
master in school to make the school more better than before and he also made Jaminan Kesehatan Masyarakat Miskin
(Askeskin) On Januari 2005, this program for people that
do not have enough money to pay nursing in hospital. Every people have own way
to confront the problem as same as SBY and Jokowi they have the different
technique.
There
are important point how choose cabinet from Joko Widodo and Susilo Bambang
Yudhoyono Two Presidents of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Joko
Widodo (Jokowi),[3]
have a different style to choose candidates of ministers who will help them.
Different leaders also mean various leadership styles.[4]
Jokowi has prepared 'Kabinet Kerja'. It
is the name of new cabinet in Republik Indonesia. it is so different compared
with SBY's era. Starting from the style of the inauguration until the election,
clearly differences are visible in the selection of ministers in Jokowi's era
and the era of SBY.The first difference is how SBY and Jokowi select the names
of the candidates. As a president for two periods, SBY selected prospective
minister by a way of auditioning, after going through processes of netting and
screening by the Election Campaign Board. The Election Campaign Board submitted
100 names from political parties to be selected. In the other hand, for the
recruitment of candidates for ministerial Jokowi is using professional
institute as some sort of head hunter. Jokowi selects the candidates by using
what's being called as the Transition Team. The transition team, headed by Rini
Soemarno, is assisted by four deputies, names Andi Widjajanto, Hasto
Kristiyanto, Anis Baswedan, and Akbar Faizal. The transition team selected from
among 2800 names to 200 names that was then grouped according to their
expertise and areas of profession. Then the list was again cut into 42
names.The next difference is interviewing the ministers candidates. After getting names from the team, both SBY
and Jokowi selected the candidates by talking to them face to face.[5]
SBY called the candidates one by one to be interviewed at Puri Cikeas. At the
time, the pattern selection of SBY is often referred as an “audition” of
ministerial candidates. SBY contacted The candidates and give them time to
prepare, just like study preparation for an examination. The Candidates usually
brought documents that strengthen their profiles. The names of the candidates then
would be announced on TV so that the people know who the candidates going to be
ministers in the Cabinet of “Indonesia Bersatu Jilid II” are. Jokowi has a
special strategy for selecting candidates from both professional ministers and
ministers of the party professionals. Assisted by the elected vice president
Jusuf Kalla (JK), every midnight they have a meeting scheduled with every of
the minister candidate. But in order to be concerned unsuspecting targets
ministerial candidates, Jokowi-JK tried to avoid the "job interview"
method. The ministerial candidates involved in a chat to check on their managerial ability,
integrity, and track record related to what has been done by the person
concerned. It can be done anywhere, either in Jokowi's official residence, the
residence of JK or even in food stalls. In addition to talk with the
candidates, there is still a step further
to be done by the candidates who pass the interview stage. SBY require the candidates to take a medical test, included Psycho test.

questions written for a mental health tes. However, even though it was televised
and undergo medical test, not necessarily the candidate to qualify to become a
minister.While Jokowi submitted the names of the candidates to be checked by Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (INTRAC)
and the Corruption Eradication Commission. INTRAC and the
Corruption Eradication Commission will tracing the names by giving yellow or red
mark. Ministerial
candidate problematic given the red color in its name.
While candidates are potentially problematic minister
highlighted in yellow.There are some candidate who had
previously be ministerial candidate, eventually bounce because of marked red. Another
difference is the elements of rhe cabinet. The cabinet of
“Indonesia Bersatu Jilid II” use 14 professional and 20 ministers from
political parties,includes 5
womans and 29 mans. Meanwhile The cabinet of “Kabinet Kerja”
use 16 ministers from political parties and 18 ministers from professional,
academy, and people from the usual background, that consist of 8 womans and 26 mans.
Jokowi also just use 2 vice minister, and SBY use 17 vice
minister. To conclude, there are
some differences between SBY and Jokowi when choose the Cabinet, there are
advantages and disadvantages of each. We as citizens must
believe in their choice. We also have to constantly keep controls their
performance.
As a common
people Joko Widodo and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono have some interesting hobbies
such as listening music, writing essay ,
watching concert. Probably, many people out there do not know that [7]Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono ever be a musician about 2000 year. The name of his group is Gaya
Taruna. he made album about love and religion in 2007. SBY also made some
papers such as Mengatasi Krisis, Menyelamatkan Reformasi ,
Taman
Kehidupan: Kumpulan Puisi, Revitalizing Indonesian Economy: Business, Politics, and
Good Governance and Transforming Indonesia: Selected International Speeches.
By contrast Joko Widodo, he loves rock pop music. It seems like when he come to
some rock concert in Jakarta. He also to be an icon in some papers film. For
instance Jokowi: Memimpin Kota Menyentuh Jakarta by Endah Albhertiene , Jokowi: Si Tukang Kayu by Gatotkoco Suroso and Ambarita, Domu D. and a film such as “JOKOWI” were acted by Teuku Rifnu
Wikana and Prisia Nasution. This film to persuade Governor of DKI Jakarta 52 years. Jokowi and
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who are the people
we know seem admirable and charismatic but in the opposite they are
humble and friendly.
Whatever about the differences
between Joko Widodo and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono because they have been doing
something better to Indonesia, we have to proud of them because they are brave
to be a person number one in Indonesia. They work hard to survive Indonesia
with their own way. Sometimes we feel do not satisfied about what they have
done but As a human every people have some weakneses and overplus so we do not
have to judge someone else as what we want. In this comparison is not about
their badness but about their life that make us feel jealous because we cannot
do anything yet for Republik Indonesia. We would be better if we respect and
support them to make it Indonesia more better than before.
